Are You Creative, Or Are You Busy?

Creative versus Busy, what’s the difference? busy people work hard while creative people work smart!

Busy people can often be overthinkers, bogged down in work whilst trying to multi-task their way through an immense to-do list. Productive people focus on the end goals and will consider the most effective way to reach that goal; they’re action-orientated and results-driven.

Everyone has the same number of hours in the day, it’s about learning how to make these hours work for you! Here are some tips from our team to help you!

Arrange

Effective people will know what’s vital and essential. They can identify what tasks are time critical and which can wait.  Think about your goals and work from there. Don’t worry over the small things, the most important thing is to make a start!

Proposal

Certain people can see their end goal and measure the best way to get there, even if it means changing things up or doing things differently. They might recognise that something doesn’t need to be done at all! So, turn off your autopilot mode, take a step back and don’t undertake that, just because something has always been done a certain way, there’s not a better way.

Know when to say “no”

Effective people say yes or no carefully. Whether you’re trying to make a good impression in a new job or trying to balance with friends and family, it’s simple to learn to say no to things that don’t want to do. It might sound self-centred or selfish, but to spread yourself so finely that you can’t give something your full attention, could have more of a negative consequence.

Do one thing at a time

Multi-tasking can be a dangerous game and you could do several things poorly. It can also make you feel more overwhelmed with your job! Stop delaying and just do it! Giving one task your full attention and focus is proven to be more effective. Once it’s done, then it’s done, you can move on to the next one.

Do it right first time

So, you don’t have to spend time putting them right in the future. Going around in corners or doing a bad job is false economy. Think quality over quantity. Being fully present and giving It your best shot the first time, even if it takes a little longer, will save you time further down the line.

Ditch the interruptions

Interruptions are the arch enemy of productivity! Keep work time for work and know when it’s time to call it a day. This starts at the planning stage of your day, organise your calls and meetings accordingly and if you need to focus, turn off your phone and emails or head to a quiet space, it’s as simple as that.

Embrace development and change

Finally, productive people are able to adapt and change with the times by continually reviewing what they’re doing against the end goal to keep themselves moving forward. Try to think about what’s relevant to your own situation, whether it’s learning new skills, using new technology, changing your routine or doing something completely different.
